UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS
REGULAR MEETING – JANUARY 11, 2010 – 7:38 P.M.
The Regular Meeting of the Corsica Board of Education was held on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 7:38 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
Members Present: Don Oakland, President; Jeremy Wright, Bob Bamberg, Richard Muilenburg, Jason Lagge, Nicole Bamberg and Garry Bultje.
Officers Present: Vern DeGeest, Superintendent; Scott Muckey, Secondary Principal; Merna Bye, Business Manager.
President Oakland called the meeting to order at 7:38 p.m. and a quorum was present.
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Bultje to approve the agenda with the additions as presented.
Carried.
Motion by Bultje seconded by Muilenburg to approve the December 14, 2009 minutes. Carried.
Motion by Wright seconded by Bob Bamberg to approve the December 2009 Financial Statement as presented. Carried.
Motion by Bultje seconded by Lagge to approve the December 2009 Trust and Agency Report with a beginning balance of $13,973.75 disbursements of $2,814.81, receipts of $5,283.46 for an ending balance of $16,442.40. Carried.
Lagge moved to approve the listing of bills for the January 2010 meeting. Seconded by Nicole Bamberg and carried.
Bob Bamberg moved to approve the December 2009 Mid-Central Meeting minutes. Seconded by Bultje and carried.
Election Official
Appointments
Motion by Bob Bamberg seconded by Wright to approve the following election officials: Mary Van’t Haaff, Ruby DeVries and Doris Markus. Edna Sprecher and Bev Sonnenberg as the alternates. Carried.
Motion by Bultje seconded by Nicole Bamberg to set Tuesday, June 15, 2010 as the annual school board election date. The only voting precinct will be the high school music room. Motion carried.

U.S. News and World
Report
A handout was presented to the board that was in the U.S. News and World Report showing the Corsica High School being named as one of the 12 South Dakota Schools to be named to the “Bronze Medal Schools’ list earning a national honor for 2007-2008 school year.
Make-Up Snow Days
The board gave its approval to allow the administration to have a make-up snow day on Monday, January 18, 2010 and to allow Monday, February 15, 2010 as one additional snow day if needed.
Others
Other items discussed the School Funding issues in the legislature, wellness center equipment, future sports cooperatives and staffing concerns.
Adjourn
There being no further business, at 9:22 p.m. motion by Bob Bamberg to adjourn. Seconded by Wright and carried. The next regular meeting will be Monday, February 8, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in Classroom A of the high school.
